Henry W. Paris (1818-1880) was elected Milton County sheriff in 1860. He was elected captain of Company C, 42nd Regiment, Georgia Volunteer Army on July 22, 1862. He was captured at Vicksburg on July 3, 1863.

George D. Rucker was owner and editor of the Alpharetta Free Press and Superintendent of Milton County Schools. With him is grandson George Maddox.

George Wills, Sr. and Q. A. Wills in front of the Wills home on Marietta Street. Both served as mayor of Alpharetta. Wills park is named in honor of this family. |

William E. Spence was Milton County’s last Clerk of the Superior Court and served two terms as mayor of Alpharetta. He also served as director of the Georgia State Patrol and director of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
